‘A Twisted Nod’ is a Great Romance…

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 11:29 PM PST

Powhatan, VA (PRWEB) February 21, 2006

Gail Ylitalo’s novel, “A Twisted Nod,” is available through Lulu Press, Inc. (see link below) and through popular booksellers Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.

Review >>>

‘A Twisted Nod’ is a great romance with a lot of very difficult obstacles for each of the characters to negotiate. Amanda has to deal with her broken heart and painful memories from her youth. Scott has to deal with his guilt over letting go of his deceased wife, as well as his stepdaughters unhealthy expectations of him. This story has a nice smooth, gentle pace that is perfect for a lazy afternoon read. Theres also an interesting psycho twist with the stepdaughter. Tami Brady, TCM Reviews

Opening Excerpt >>>

Amanda Jackson yawned, stretched, and was now fully awake. She glanced around the room, momentarily forgetting where she was. Events came flooding back and, for the first time since the shooting, she cried.

After awhile she calmed herself, hating her weakness. If only he knew how much she truly loved and needed him. She had to hang onto the belief that he would come running to herthat he also loved her. Wiping the tears away, she willed herself to be strong. This was not going to result in a simple, happy ending. People were dead because she hadnt acted quickly enough. She was about to start crying again when a nurse briskly entered the room carrying a tray.

Time for breakfast, she said, lightly. How are you feeling this morning?

Like I was hit by a Mack truck, replied Amanda, humorlessly.

Well, this hot coffee should help, the cheery nurse answered, not in the least bit bothered by Amandas comment.

Can I get up?

Yes. Moving around will help, but for a while youre going to be very stiff. The fragments went through your shoulderyoure one lucky girl. Perhaps I should

Nono thanks, Amanda interrupted. I can manage. Besides, she added, smiling slightly, I know how overworked you people are.

The nurse laughed. Ill set your tray by the window. Go easy and, if you have any difficulty, call us.

Amanda nodded, waited until shed gone, and pushed the bedside table away. Throwing back the bed covers, she slowly sat up and, before standing, waited for the sudden dizziness to pass. On weak legs, she stumbled to the bathroom. She held onto the sink for support and stared at the glassy brown eyes in the mirror (eyes shed always considered too large); the pale, unblemished skin; and the full, sensitive mouth. Hair the color of wheat fell limply on her shoulders. What happened to you? she whispered, to the ghostly reflection. Where did you go wrong?

As she stood looking at this sorrowful image of herself, memories of their first meeting came flooding backthe day shed found the love all women long for.

But you ran from him because you didnt have the guts to profess your love! her reflection accused. Amanda, her death is all your fault! You knew what she was capable of!

Stop it! she cried, covering her eyes. She didnt want to remember but had to face the truth. She had to rememberbring back the past. It was the only way she could deal with the girls death.

Amanda sank to the floor in despair. The tears that fell were for all the hurts and pains shed suffered at their hands. Deep down inside she realized that they were the ones responsible for the girls death. They were the ones whod pushed her out of their social circle. How vividly she recollected how it all began!

“Walter’s Flying Bus” App Unites Global Creative Team To Bring Orphans Dreams to Life

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:57 AM PST

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 04, 2013

The recent launch of Walters Flying Bus offers hope for orphans with special needs dreaming of a place in a permanent and loving home, and the developers, Chosen & Dearly Loved have released background details sure to also inspire.

In 2009, Michael & Mandy Gallagher did a Google search for information on orphans with special needs. To our surprise, very little information was available for our family as we considered adopting a child with special needs, Mandy Gallagher, co-founder, shared in a statement. This planted the seeds to someday create a website that could encourage other families pursuing special needs adoptions.

The launch of the Gallaghers organization, Chosen & Dearly Loved, is the fulfillment of that dream. In addition, the website created the platform Forever Families that is releasing multiple short documentaries to tell the stories of permanent loving families adopting orphans with special needs..

This was just the beginning, as a broader trans-media campaign has been launched that includes Walters Flying Bus, an Animated storybook App available on iTunes featuring direct contributions from the children in Africa.

The idea of an orphan advocacy App was first conceived in early 2010 by the Gallaghers good friend, David L. Cunningham of Global Virtual Studio (GVS). Cunningham, a studio film director (To End All Wars, 20th Century Fox; The Seeker: The Dark is Rising, Fox-Walden Media), encouraged the Gallaghers to take their vision beyond, where the world of new-media production and viewing was heading. The Gallaghers listened.

In 2010, emerging Fresno, California-based filmmaker, Josiah Thiesen, got the call from Cunningham to direct a trans-media project which included a storytelling website, animated eBook, and several short documentaries to aid in their efforts.

Additionally, Cunningham added veteran film producer from Los Angeles, Edwin Marshall (To End All Wars; After.Life) who brought in, Caleb Kerlin, editor from New York, to join the team. Dr. Dennis Sempebwa, a Ugandan born educator handled the narration for both English and Luganda. Through GVS, Canadian childrens author, Ed Strauss, was engaged, as was the animation studio, Metacube, based in Guadalajara, Mexico, which had recently developed a motion comic book to promote Cunninghams new film, Day of War.

In Los Angeles, Clint Nitkiewicz Hernandez of New Element Productions formed a team of animators in India to help complete Walters Flying Bus for a Christmas 2012 launch.

Santa Monica-based App programming company, ISBX coordinated proven programmers in the Philippines. Meanwhile, Grammy Award-winning music producer, Greg Nelson, engaged Disney composer, David Hamilton, and several acclaimed musicians and recording engineers in Nashville, who together created original scores for the App and documentaries under Nelsons supervision.

Yet through it all, most important to the Gallaghers, Cunningham and the global creative team, was staying true to the real-life children featured in their media. Rather than being portrayed as limited by their special needs, each child was to be seen and celebrated for the whole person they are. Thus nine orphans with special needs, Walter, Debra, Jason, Zeke, Rachel, Mweru, Arafat, Selina and Zak, painted their dreams with Ugandan art therapist, Jaffer Buyinza in Jinja, Uganda at the Ekisa Orphanage. The childrens dreams were fused with those of David L. Cunningham, the Gallaghers, and creative professionals from around the world, and Walters Flying Bus took flight on the Apple iTunes App Store this past Christmas.

PureCostumes.com Announces Its Top-Selling Halloween Costumes for the 2012 Halloween Season

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:53 AM PST

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2012

Halloween costumes continue to be in high demand this season amidst a shaky economy. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), Halloween spending is expected to reach $ 8.0 billion this year. Over at PureCostumes.com, sales are at an all time high with Halloween just two weeks away. While other retailers are reporting superhero costumes as their top selling category, PureCostumes.com is pulling in surprising high sales from other categories, ranging from the typical to the hard-to-find.

Currently, Pure Costumes hottest sellers are its ninja costumes. Ninja costumes have been extremely popular in recent years, particularly amongst boys. PureCostumes.com reports that in this category, the Stealth Ninja Child Costume is the number one seller again this season, even though it is not a new item. With popular childrens television shows like Ninjago and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it seems that parents have been scrambling to purchase ninja costumes for their children.

Another big category for Pure Costumes this year is the Nascar license. This hot 2012 release is gaining a lot of attention from Nascar fans and people who dont know much about Nascar. With their stylish designs and celebrity race-car driver endorsements, the Nascar costumes have been a huge hit. PureCostumes.coms sales indicate that the Kyle Busch Toddler Costume and the Danica Patrick Adult Costume are top favorites amongst its customers.

The top costume category for women this October seems to be fairytale costumes. With major costume manufacturers designing new styles each season, sexy fairytale costumes continue to gain popularity each year. These days, classic fairytale costumes are revamped into racier versions with intricate details. Many styles even come complete with matching accessories, which appeals to shoppers for the convenience it offers. PureCostumes.com reports that the Dark Red Riding Hood Adult Costume and Tinkerbell Adult Costume by California Costume Collections are its best sellers for this category.

Animal costumes are also a big seller for Pure Costumes this month. Many animal costume styles have taken on a new spin, becoming much more fashionable and resulting in fun and feminine designs. These costumes are especially popular amongst females, from young girls to adult women. So far, PureCostumes.com has been receiving a large amount of orders and inquiries for its Furry Fox Toddler Costume and its Sweet Raccoon Toddler Costume, making these two items the most popular in its category.

Lastly, classic costumes seem to be making a huge comeback this year. Classic costumes include traditional themes like pirates, witches, vampires and grim reapers. With new designs across the board for Halloween 2012, PureCostumes.com reports that classic costumes continue to be solid sellers, especially amongst groups who are looking to dress similarly.

With only two weeks left in the season, PureCostumes.com is keeping close watch of its sales trends for the season. With the numbers fluctuating daily, its a tight race to see which categories and costumes will be the big winners for the 2012 Halloween season.

Baby Lifestyles Announces the Hottest Baby Halloween Costumes for 2009

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:53 AM PST

Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) September 29, 2009

They may not be able to trick or treat just yet, but you still want your little one to enjoy their first Halloween experience in an adorable baby Halloween costume. For babies, cute animal costumes often top Halloween trends lists, but for 2009 there is a definite influence on funny and original baby costumes.

“Now is the time of year when people start discussing what their kids are going to be for Halloween and the emphasis on being original and different,” says Lauren Halperin, creative director of Baby Lifestyles. “Choosing a humorous costume for your baby says something about your personality and your baby’s. Plus you don’t want to be at a party with 15 of the same baby costumes.”

TV and movies as well as comic book super heroes are also expected to be a huge influence on infant Halloween costumes this year. Batman, Spiderman, X-Men and Star Wars characters are expected to lead the list of top boys costumes. Fairies, princesses and aspiring pop idols will reign supreme for girls costumes. “In this economy parents want to get more than one day’s wear out of their children’s costumes,” says Halperin. “Since toddlers love using their imaginations and playing dress up, parents will see these types of costumes get worn more than once.”

Baby Lifestyles has worked with many of the largest online costume retailers to create the most complete baby, infant and toddler costume collection online the Baby Lifestyles Halloween Costume Shop.

Here are some costumes sure to be favorites for this year:

The Baby Clown Fish: No need to find Nemo with this cute fish with attached head and tail.

The Baby Air Freshener: Everyone recognizes the familiar green pine tree air freshener swinging from the rear view mirror. Don’t look now but there’s a baby pine tree in the fast lane!

Baby Spider-Man: Now baby can dress-up as everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man with this infant costume. This baby Spider-Man costume is a sure to provide some great memories for that first Halloween costume.

The Baby Daffodil: This little blossom is the epitome of innocence of infancy and the sweetness of flowers.

Future Hip Hopper: The Baby Hip Hopper Costume lets baby keep it real for the party! This hip-to-the-beat baby Halloween costume even includes a plush boom box and silver bling.

Baby Pirate Jack Sparrow: Ahoy, matey! It’s time to board the ship in this little boy’s pirate costume. He’ll have a great pretend adventure in this pirate costume!

Surpassing Madonna taking #1 Billboard Breakout Dance Position, Brian Anthony Approaches Launch of Int’l ‘DREAMTOUR’ for new single “IN MY DREAMS”.

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:53 AM PST

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 11, 2010

Songwriter, producer, performer, firebrand and global powerhouse package — Brian Anthony is poised for international mainstream superstardom. You would think he is signed to a major record deal with millions invested at first glance, but this young entrepreneur has been successful so far due to hard work, lots of heart and an undeniable passion for creating new music while conquering the “unknown” with new technology in an ever-changing music industry.

Brian has a very unique success story of having topped the charts with each “indie” release, and placing them in major motion pictures distributed by the number one studio on the planet, 20th Century Fox. These films included the animated feature “Garfield 2: Tail of Two Kitties”, “Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer”, “Dragonball:Evolution”, and most recently “Aliens In The Attic”, starring Ashley Tisdale. All these releases have charted on UK Club Charts, Spain Sales Charts and even in the Top 10 of U.S. Billboard Dance Charts.

Additionally, he’s credited significant music licensing with major corporations obtained all on his own — without the aid of an agent, manager or any guidance at all. These placements range from one of his ballads, “Champion”, becoming an inspirational anthem for the Special Olympics – complete with shooting a music video on the Great Wall of China, to having music licensed to rep campaigns of massive conglomerates such as Wal-Mart.

Somehow, amidst everything else, Brian finds time for charity, as well. During this past Christmas 2009, he released a holiday single called “One Wish” (feat. Jeff Timmons of 98 degress) [Motown/UMG] with a portion of its proceeds donated to support three charities: AmFar, fighting world AIDS, The One Campaign, to irradicate world poverty, and The American Red Cross, a global charity chosen specifically to support the families of fallen soldiers who are financially and emotionally distressed due to losses of loved ones fighting in Iraq. And in light of the Haiti disaster, funds will be contributed to redcross relief efforts overseas. This latest dance remix project for “Electricty” (included in the Christmas project) snagged the #1 Billboard Breakout Position surpassing icons like Madonna feat. Lil’ Wayne, Kelis, and Three 6 Mafia feat. Tiesto. “Electricity” is currently #36 at U.S. Billboard on the Hot Dance Club Play Chart and the remix package just rolled out for radio/club promotion in the UK.

Representing the new business model for restructured company Jamster (bought by FOXMOBILE), Brian provides original music for exclusive content, including video tones, ring tones, wallpapers and downloads. In this deal, Brian is taping a reality show called “Becoming: Brian”, chronicling his unusual and almost surreal road, and rise in this mind boggling music business of today. Because of this, Brian and his “indie” label are in talks about branding and sponsorship to support his “straight to mobile” show with globally recognized clothing, food, and lifestyle corporations. In addition, Brian now also has network interest in “Becoming : BRIAN”, by producers of major reality shows currently airing. This would run in tandem with the series of five to seven minute “mobisodes” fortifying the marketing effort.

It’s no wonder Qadree El-Amin of SouthPaw Entertainment–who has managed the likes of famed icons Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson, Tyrese, and now Mya — scooped Brian right up. Qadree admits, “Brian is the type of new – powerful strain of recording artist in today’s music industry that can turn major corporations and record companies around and put once failed labels, back on the map.” They’re currently gearing up for an int’l promo tour including dates in Canada, the UK, China and the U.S. – kicking things off in Los Angeles at club ‘Cherry BOOM!’ on February 20th, 2010. If you are an innocent bystander or a devoted fan, prepare to possibly be captured on camera, as every performance while on tour promoting “ELECTRICITY”, including the forecasted crowd of two thousand plus club goers that Saturday night in LA, is being taped for his FOX Mobile reality series. If that’s not a crowd draw and an excuse to add fuel to the fire, with a lil’ extra chaos and crazy — don’t know what is! Should definitely make good TV!

No question about it, with his chartbusting track record on the dance charts around the world, coupled with his latest release’s promo tour inciting an electrical surge internationally, it seems we’ve found a future pioneer in music and media technology, not to mention, the world’s next future Pop Icon. Bisnar | Chase: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Shoots and Kills Pit Bull that Attacked Animal Control Officer

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:53 AM PST

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) November 25, 2012

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed a pit bull after it killed a Chihuahua and attacked an Animal Control Officer Mireya Martinez. According to a Nov. 20 CBS news report, the dog attack occurred on Nov. 17 in the 13500 block of Ramsey Avenue in La Mirada. Martinez was trying to contain the attacking dog when it bit her, the report states. The article reports that the on-duty deputy who was at the scene responded immediately by shooting the dog and saving the Martinez’s life. Animal Control officers are warning the public to remain vigilant about dogs without leashes that are roaming in neighborhoods, the article states. Anyone who wishes to report a stray or loose dog is asked to call animal control officers at 562-940-6898.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), dogs bite more than 4.7 million people each year in the United States and of these victims, 800,000 seek medical attention and 386,000 require treatment in an emergency department. About 16 people die each year in dog attacks and the rate of dog bite-related injuries is highest for children ages 5 to 9, the CDC reports. Almost two-thirds of injuries among children ages 4 years and younger are to the head or neck region, the agency states.

This incident casts the spotlight on the importance of being vigilant when it comes to stray and loose dogs, said John Bisnar, founder of the Bisnar | Chase personal injury law firm. “If you come across an unfamiliar dog, stay away and do not approach it,” he says. “Anyone who comes across a stray dog, a loose dog or dogs behaving unusually would be well advised to report it to the animal control authorities.”

Bisnar says dog owners have a responsibility to ensure that their pets are not roaming around the neighborhood. “This puts the public in grave danger. Dog attacks can result in major injuries and permanent disfigurement. In some cases, it could also result in death. Dog owners whose negligence leads to injury or death can be held civilly liable for losses sustained by the victims and their families.”

The California dog bite attorneys at Bisnar | Chase represent victims of dog attacks and many other personal injuries. The firm has been featured on a number of popular media outlets including Newsweek, Fox, NBC, and ABC and is known for its passionate pursuit of results for their clients. "We have gone all out to provide excellent communication including Internet browsing, great music with stereo speakers, sensational widescreen gaming, quality still imaging and video capturing and loads of personalization options. The phone will appeal to young adults with busy social lives and a desire to express themselves in multiple ways.”

The S600 offers multiple ways of communication for maximum creativity to share messages, pictures and information. Voice calls can be made with the phone closed or open to use the keypad. The 1.3 MegaPixel camera is great for recording video clips – with 4 x zoom for great close-ups – that can be sent via MMS or Bluetooth. Sharing, storing and printing pictures is made easy with QuickShare™. The phone also supports instant messaging and POP3/IMAP4 email, enabling users to keep in touch across the world using whatever method is most convenient.

Gigs, movie schedules, search engines and webmail can easily be checked with the internet browser that features a choice of viewing modes: full scale mode enables users to scroll round the complete page, or if preferred, information can be presented in a single column. Either way, the bright 1.8 inch 262K TFT display provides razor sharp pictures.

Gamers will be stunned by the S600's widescreen mode. For the first time games can be played with the screen horizontal, enhancing the widescreen detail and excitement of games and giving a console gaming experience. The directional buttons on the left and dedicated game action buttons on the right of the screen are used for two handed control, and gamers can make full use of these with the pre-installed 3D versions of Worms™ Forts: Under Siege 3D developed by THQ Wireless, Extreme Air Snowboarding™ developed by Digital Chocolate and a new multiplayer version of Midway's Gauntlet™, developed under license by TKO Software. Games can also be played in a more conventional portrait mode or an L-shaped mode using the keyboard and the S600 supports multi-player peer-2-peer gaming via Bluetooth™.

Stereo sound can be enjoyed through the headset packaged with the phone or with friends through the phone's powerful stereo speakers with MegaBass™ and Stereo Widening™ to enhance the sound. The S600 is supplied with music copying PC Software and a USB cable for fast transfer of music and images from the PC. If a call comes in when the user is listening to music on the headphones, the music fades out and resumes when the call is finished. As the ringtone sounds through the headphone, the chances of missing a call are minimised.

Downloading games and ringtones is easy with PlayNow™ – just one click to get online, preview games or listen to ringtones from a frequently updated selection, then another click to download.

The S600 has an impressive 64 MB memory, which means it can download and store hundreds of games, movie clips, music videos and ringtones from Sony Ericsson's Fun & Downloads website or operator networks.

There are plenty of ways to personalise the S600, which is available in universe blue, orchid white and radiant yellow. Choose a different colour from the range of additional Style-Up™ covers available in the market and match them with wallpapers, themes and start-up/close-down animations downloaded from Fun & Downloads. Brainz Announces Partnership with GREE

Posted: 18 Jan 2013 06:53 AM PST

Bogota, Colombia (PRWEB) November 29, 2012

Latin American studio Brainz today announced that Vampire Season-Monster Defense, a deluxe supped up version of the original game that reviewers and users alike have come to love, will be launching on GREE Platform.

I think we got ourselves on the radar with the soft launch of Vampire Season earlier this year. We were pleasantly surprised with so many positive reviews, yet we knew we had room to improve, said Alejandro Gonzalez, CEO of Brainz. Working very closely with GREE over the past several weeks, we overhauled the game and developed a better, more immersive experience without losing what made it special in the first place.

Vampire Season-Monster Defense has smoking new graphics and is more challenging than the previous version. Levels have been rebuilt, there is a new economy that includes dual currencies (coins and sapphires), a new feature that enables pinch zooming the camera angles, as well as other surprises that extend game play including a Horror Roulette in survival mode.

“Brainz is an incredibly unique studio that combines amazing graphics, humor, and smart game play. We cant wait to share our technology and best practices with them to take them to the next level, said Eros Resmini, SVP of Developer Relations and Marketing, GREE International, Inc. Its a great pleasure to be working with such a talented studio and introduce their content to GREEs global audience.”

Widely praised for its innovative approach to tower defense and use of humor, Vampire Season-Monster Defense turns traditional definitions of good and evil on its head. Players must defend Count Dracula from the forces of good through multiple levels. There are many ways to dispatch Draculas attackers, including an ample menagerie of monsters and items such as Werewolves with bunny slippers, Zombies, Disco Balls, Nucular Pumpkins, and Headless Horsemen, amongst others.

Vampire Season-Monster Defense is now available on iOS and will be launching both the Android and iOS versions on GREE Platform in the following weeks.
